PROFESSIONAL THEATER PRODUCTION program is designed to stage professional theater productions. Calliope most recently staged Slow Dance on the Killing Ground, written by the late William Hanley at the Riverside Theater.
IMMIGRANT PLAYWRITING WORKSHOP
IMMIGRANT PLAYWRITING THEATER Program is designed to introduce and expose young aspiring Caribbean/African/Latino artists to the fundamental of playwriting. Calliope has showcased the writers’ fifteen to forty-five minute plays in Calliope’s annual DRAMATIC READINGS—as well as has staged the plays as full-scaled productions in Calliope’s annual summer stock theater festival. APPRENTICE PLAYWRITING WORKSHOP
APPRENTICE PLAYWRITING THEATER Program is designed to introduce and expose fourteen young aspiring artists to the fundamental technique of beginning and intermediate playwriting. Calliope has showcased the apprentices’ forty to one-hour plays in its annual DRAMATIC READINGS –as well as has staged full-scaled productions of the plays in Calliope’s annual summer stock theater festival. Calliope has also trained the apprentices in the disciplines of acting, directing, and producing. The actors in the workshop have performed in the immigrant writers’ plays as well. (13-22)
